When door hinges start to squeak, you can spray some lubricant into the middle of the hinge to quiet them. If it won’t work, try knocking the hinge pin up about halfway with a screwdriver and hammer, and then rubbing some lubricant. Tap it back down and then move the door back and forth, and the noise will be gone.

SPARKLING TUB

After a few years of daily use, the minerals in water—not to mention dirt and sloughed-off skin cells—can make any tub look yellowish and old. Here’s the magic mixture, mix up equal amounts of baking soda and cream of tartar with lemon juice until it forms a paste. Put it on the stained parts of the tub.
